Things You Might Not Know About Me

For a change of pace, I thought I'd share with you some things about me you may not know.

I was born in the north of England, in the county of Lancashire, but I live now on Canada's west coast. Victoria, British Columbia is known as Canada’s “Garden City” for good reason.

Most people don’t realize it is a sub-tropical area of the country on the west coast. We enjoy mild winters. Snowstorms are very rare.

Spring is my favorite season. I love to see the buds come out on the blossom trees, and Victoria is famous for its incredible rhododendrons.

I’m one of those oddballs who really enjoyed homework and study. I have lots of good memories of high school.

I'm often asked if I have a personal hero or heroine. My late father is my hero. He made me the person I am today and I realize that more and more as time goes on.

When I was a student I had a temporary job in a large commercial bakery. One of the tasks I hated was greasing cake pans on a conveyor belt with a brush. I thought my hand was going to fall off! It’s probably all done by machine now.

One unusual occupation I had was when I taught students in a casino academy how to deal blackjack, poker and pai gow professionally, but I am not a gambler.

I am a keen amateur genealogist and my interest in that hobby led to the creation of novels that follow subsequent generations of my medieval families.
